Horseshoe Bay

South West Rocks, about thirty minutes north of Kempsey on the NSW coast, fronts this beautiful curved beach. Many happy holidays were spent here with my husband and two daughters, family and friends. And it is here, in the contemporary strand of my story, that seventeen year old teenager Stella Lawson, battered and bruised, arrives very early one morning.
She looks across at this view, and a faint image comes into focus in her mind ~ of her as a small child in a red bathing costume, or cossie as we say in Australia. But she has no memory of ever being here…to Stella it is a random event that she has escaped to this place.
And she has to figure out, quickly, what she will do to remain anonymous in this small community.
